Pirate Clans War: 2119 A.D.
Neosapien War: 2119-2121 A.D.
The Pirate Clans were the descendants of the convict laborers abandoned on the moons of Saturn.
Prior to the creation of the Neosapiens, convict laborers were used to mine the moons of the Outer Planets. In exchange for labor in these harsh and dangerous climates on the moons of Saturn, the convicts were promised freedom and help rebuilding their lives once their time was served. In conjunction with the creation of Neosapiens and the opening of mines on Mars, the convict laborers and their mines where abandoned.
From the struggle to survive, the Pirates had organized themselves into several individual clans. Thus, the Pirate Clans were formed, led by Jonas Simbacca. Metals were dug, ships were built. Whatever else the clans needed, they took from the Homeworlders who had lied to them for decades. Tethys had a large ship building facility and soon the Pirate Clans began using rebuilt ships to raid shipping freighters operating in the outer planet territories. The Pirate Clans began a long history of hit-and-run raids on Terran interplanetary commerce. The Pirate Clans became a formidable foe to the peace and prosperity of the Homeworlds. Additionally, they became well organized, armed and equipped from years of raiding and pillaging, obtaining more and more resources.
The Pirates were criminals which led to a strong culture of violence, survival of the fittest and chaos. Clan leaders were chosen based on their strength as a warrior, not necessarily their leadership ability. The Pirate Clans were made up of a confederacy of sovereign groups who aligned with the strongest clan. Leaders and warriors alike developed a code based strength, loyalty and honor. Death matches solved disputes of any nature and a warrior saved in battle owed a life debt to the savior. The unrestrained nature of the Pirates became exaggerated when exposed to Dark Matter, know as Dark Matter Syndrome. Essentially, Dark Matter made the Pirates more vicious and hostile.
Outer Planetary Rule
The Pirate Clans resided among the the moons of Saturn as well as Trans-Neptunian space. In addition to their bases on Enceladus and Tethys, their primary base was on Chaos, the tenth planet of the Solar System. From decades of life confined to the outer planets, the pirates had discovered Chaos. The planet is composed of Dark Matter which makes it almost invisible to detect, giving the Clans the technology to have Cloaking capabilities equipped on their ships.
The escalation between the Homeworlds and Pirate Clans came to an impasse in 2119 A.D. when the Homeworld Congress declared war on the Pirate Clans in response to the Clans pillaging of a civilian ore freighter, the Danube, which resulted in the death of one of its two crew members. In addition to the death of the Danube's crew member, an entire Exofleet work crew was killed when a booby-trap left by the Pirates was accidentally triggered. The Pirates ambushed the ExoFleet in the Asteroid Belt utilizing their Cloaking Devices and Rogue Asteroids. The ExoFleet fought off the ambush and chased the Pirates to their base on Enceladus. The ExoFleet won a costly battle and chasing the Pirates again, yet to Tethys. Just before the ExoFleet assault on their base on Tethys the war abruptly ended when the Neosapien Commonwealth surprise attacked and conquered the Homeworlds. The Exofleet turned its full attention to freeing the Homeworlds from Neosapien oppression.
Neosapien War & ExoFleet Alliance
Two years into the Neosapien War, the ExoFleet was decimated and on the brink of defeat. With the realization the Homeworlds would be lost to the Neosapiens forever, the Exofleet and Pirate Clans formed an alliance. Exofleet emissaries Commander Marsh and ExoTrooper DeLeon helped broker a deal between the Exofleet and Pirate Clans during their peace summit on Io Base. The Pirate Clans were granted full immunity and the planet Mars for their people. The Clans in return pledged their full support, including sharing of their technology and allowing the ExoFleet to rebuild on Chaos.
